JMA HR & Legal is a niche solicitor’s practice and advise small and medium sized businesses, large multi-national organisations and those operating in the charity and public sectors, as well as individuals on the full range of employment law, HR and immigration matters. Practice Director, Joanna Atkinson has over twenty-five years’ specialist employment law experience as a practising solicitor, as well as practical hands-on HR experience.

Joanna is often praised by her clients for her pragmatic and approachable style. She is commercial and yet compassionate when dealing with their HR and employment challenges. Joanna qualified as a solicitor in 1994 and is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and a fully trained Mental Health First Aider with MHFA England. She has been a partner of a leading law firm in Oxfordshire and worked in the City prior to joining an HR consultancy as its Head of HR and Legal, before setting up JMA HR & Legal in 2009.

JMA HR & Legal work out of BASE Innovation Centre in Bordon, a space with private and co-working offices, as well as a range of flexible meeting and conference rooms.

The centre is in the middle of a regeneration zone with residential homes being built and there are a lot of initiatives aimed at supporting businesses to move into the area. On working at the innovation centre, Joanna Atkinson says, “BASE is very well run; it’s a really good space combining a wide range of different businesses and provides a great location for client meetings and events.”

“We love working in East Hampshire, it’s a beautiful area and it is very accessible to the other business centres in the surrounding area” – Joanna Atkinson.

Looking ahead, Joanna says, “Our intention is to grow with the business community that’s developing and expanding here in Bordon and East Hampshire generally. Our plans for the future are to continue to build our business in this area and to continue to support its community.”
